I have over 40 years of histology experience including 25 years as the supervisor of a large clinical histology laboratory processing 30,000 surgical cases per year. My experience includes Clinical Hospital, Mohs and Ophthalmic Histology. Years of temporary histology service in many laboratories around the country gives me a broad perspective into procedures and processes which can be useful and profitable to your practice.

In addition to temporary or vacation relief I offer consultation services for:

  • Evaluation of Slide Quality with recommendations for improvement in the areas of:
    • Fixation
    • Processing
    • Embedding
    • Cutting
    • Staining
    • Special Stains
    • Immunohistochemical Stains
  • Preparation for CAP/CLIA Inspections including evaluation of:
    • Procedure Manuals
    • QC and QA Records
    • Safety Procedures
    • Review of CAP Inspection Questions with Evaluation of deficiencies and recommendations of remedies.
  • Equipment Selection for lowered cost and improved quality with attention to turn-around time, budgetary goals, ergonomics and space utilization.
  • Evaluation of Processes for improvement of Quality, Efficiency and Turn-around time.
  • Recommendations for procedures, processes, space utilization, remodeling, recycling and scheduling.
  •  I work closely with Belair Instrument Company when setting up new dermatology, gastroenterology and urology histology labs. I can help you with the complete planning and implementation of these projects including utility placement, preparation of CLIA manuals and technician training. I am competitively priced with a proven track record of success.

I have used and am familiar with a wide range of equipment including, Tissue Tek, Sakura, Leica, Thermo/Shandon, Micron, Dako, Ventana, B/R, CBG and Reichert processors, stainers, coverslippers, cryostats, microtomes, recyclers, embedding centers and other ancillary equipment.

All laboratories have procedures and practices in use, developed over years of thoughtful management. I am a firm believer that laboratory employees desire to produce the highest quality histological slides and stains. And yet, most laboratories have numerous possibilities to reduce costs and improve turn-around times and quality outcomes, when reviewed with an additional perspective.

I offer the flexibility and broad experience to accommodate to your specific needs regarding any of the above areas, and look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I may be of service.

I am also available for vacation/leave of absence relief for several days up to several weeks. You see productivity from day one!
